Devorah Zealot Soodak, nee Deborah Ellen Soodak, aka Debbie Soodak, is freezing in Philadelphia. Why you ask? Because the temperature is up to all of 25 degrees Fahrenheit (that's about -4 degrees Celcius) and her rather large window is open a couple of feet.
"But that's just crazy," you say. Well, no it's not. My last post was Breathless in Philadelphia. I'd rather be cold and breathe a little easier.
It's bad enough that the guy is sanding and painting in the hall. To make it worse, the guy (and occasionally guys) who do the work smoke out there too. They refuse to open the windows. They don't vacuum when they are done. The room smells like an ashtray and I'm choking on the dust and the paint fumes and that's an improvement.
At least I slept last night. I sleep in sweats, socks, two sweaters, and a hoodie, under two blankets and my down-filled coat. I wish I had a thermometer to tell what the room temperature is. It is so cold my hands hurt and it is hard to type. Hey! A girl's gotta breathe.
I'm grateful that I can breathe well enough to sleep. I'm still waiting for that bank statement. Then I can get ID. Then I can get myself out of here. I'm praying.

It seems that Philadelphia is famous for fire hydrants and dairy products and, of course, Benjamin Franklin. I didn't know that the hand cranked ice cream maker was invented in Philadelphia. I knew something about the culture of Philadelphia, but I didn't know that fire hydrants were of note. I associate hydrants with my hometown, New York City. I also associate bed bugs with NYC. We had quite an epidemic. See what you can learn from a few Google searches? I learn something new every day.
Except for the cream cheese, that first page of the web search was rather dull, so I decided to try something new. I was inspired by the bed bug video that showed up on the web search to run a video search. The bed bugs are really gross, but really interesting even though it's an advertisement. Freeze the buggers! Don't poison yourself!

Some of these videos are fun. You've got to watch the Flash Newsflash 12/19/2010. It's really funny. Pest Control-Property Managers Freeze Bed Bugs ... is interesting, but it's kind of gross, so don't watch it if you get queazy about such things. Flash Freeze is kind of cool. Give this one some time. It isn't obvious what it is at first. And, of course, I like almost anything that has to do with food: Saving with freezing and canning. I may be a skinny girl, but that's not because I don't love to eat.
Now to the original search, freezing in philadelphia. It was mostly about the winter's weather, which compared to most parts of the country, wasn't a very big deal. But there was the frozen cream cheese. And who doesn't love cream cheese.
